How these tools work

Every calculation runs in your browser. Nothing you type is stored, and no financial detail is sent anywhere. The rates come from HM Revenue and Customs, not from memory: the personal allowance, the income tax bands for the rest of the UK and for Scotland, National Insurance, and the student loan thresholds were all read from GOV.UK and last verified on 20 September 2026.

These are guidance, not tax or financial advice. A payslip can differ because of your tax code, benefits in kind, or the way your employer runs its pension scheme. Where a tool cannot cover something, the page says so.

More tools are on the way. If one would help you, tell me what you are trying to work out.

The weekly newsletter

These tools come out of The Parallel Operator, a weekly email about building income around a job rather than instead of one. One issue a week, no pitch in the body.
